Composite decking is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional wooden decking. First introduced to the market 40 years ago it is made from a blend of recycled wood and polymers so it is stronger and requires less maintenance than traditional wooden decking.
Composite decking is generally more expensive than basic wooden decking but there are advantages. Our composite decking involves no painting, staining, sealing or sanding making it low maintenance. It is also fade, splinter and slip resistant with a 25 year residential warranty.
The difference between capped and traditional composite decking is that capped deck boarding has an additional layer of a polymer sleeve that provides an impenetrable, wrap around protective layer. The benefit of this layer is that as opposed to the annual jet wash that composite board require, capped composite boards simply wipe clean! There is a wide variety of mono and due-tone colours to choose from TimberTech’s capped range
Capped decking, whilst not as vulnerable as uncapped decking, does also require a degree of maintenance. It may seem obvious, but it is essential to keep capped decking clear of leaves and other debris. It can be washed easily, removing stains and spillages.
Capped decking is a cost effective alternative to PVC decking; the reason for this is that UV inhibitors to prevent fading of dark coloured decking for example, only need to be applied to the capstock over the capped decking, whereas they must be included throughout all of the PVC decking.
