Are you a fan of ITV's Alan Titchmarsh Show Love Your Garden? Well the team at TimberTech have been glued to their TV sets over the past five weeks as Alan Titchmarsh, David Domoney and the rest of the Love Your Garden team have transformed the gardens of truly deserving people into practical, modern outdoor living spaces.
Did you see last night's episode? Episode 5 of Love Your Garden which aired at 8pm last night on ITV was of particular of interest to us here at TimberTech. Alan Titchmarsh and the team helped to transform the unruly garden at the new home of recent ex-serviceman Ian Costello. Having recently been invalided out from the army Ian has moved to new living accommodation in Norwich, and whilst the interior of the bungalow is ideal for him and his family, the garden was very overgrown and unruly.
In stepped Alan and the Love Your Garden team to create the ultimate outdoor living space for Ian and his family - incorporating an open sided outdoor cabin with a fantastic dining table with built-in BBQ, a hot tub, as well as a separate children's play area, incorporating a Wendy house, play area and a vegetable plot. All of these new features in Ian's new garden looked amazing, but what was even more striking was the way all of these new features were intertwined with the inclusion of a wide expanse of composite decking.
The inclusion of the grey composite deck really helped to pull together all aspects of the Costello's new garden. The integration of this multi-levelled composite deck meant that the garden could be used for a variety of applications - the low maintenance composite decking was ideal on a wide expanse for lounge furniture, as well as being ideal for smaller areas such as for paths. It was also ideal for creating multiple levels in connecting the raised deck to the lower deck steps. Lastly it was used very cleverly around the Hot Tub area, and being slip-resistant means that it's safe for the entire family.
Composite decking really is a versatile form of outdoor flooring, and what's more as presenter David Domoney pointed out in last night's Love Your Garden show; unlike softwood which is high maintenance and will rot; and unlike hardwood decking, which still requires maintenance, composite decking is virtually maintenance free, and long -lasting! It is however important to understand that as with softwood and hardwood decks, composite decking comes in varying grades. Quality may vary, and whilst some boards are hollow, some are also solid and therefore provide improved strength and long lasting performance. TimerTech composite deck boards are solid in profile, and as with the decking featured by David Domoney last night, TimberTech's most popular ranges can be fixed using a secret fixing system. Furthermore, TimberTech composite decking is guaranteed for 25 years.
