We love decking that stands out, but there are times when it's more important to blend in. If your garden is a lush green area, filled with the natural beauty of beautiful nature, then adding a sleek, modern-looking deck down in the middle could easily ruin the effect. Your verdant lawn, your dazzling flowers and your rich shrubbery will not look quite at home when placed alongside something that's unmistakably man-made, so if you do decide to deck out your garden then you'll most likely want a deck that looks as natural as possible.

This seems like an issue that composite decking isn't designed to address. Wooden decks may not be as durable or as slip-resistant as composite constructions, but if we're talking about looking natural then surely the natural wood product is going to come up trumps, right?

Perhaps, but before you make up your mind on this score, it's worth ordering a free decking sample from TimberTech. You might be surprised at just how convincing our wood-effect decking is; our Cedar deck boards, for example, are practically indistinguishable from real wood, and they look just as naturally lovely when set against a gorgeous green garden.

Here at TimberTech, we understand the importance of a natural-looking garden deck. We can create a contemporary deck if you'd prefer, with gleaming glass balustrades and superb slate-style boards, but on the whole we prefer the organic look. A garden deck should complement rather than eclipse the outdoor space in which it's situated, and we're confident that once your wood-style composite decking has been installed, it will look like it's always been there. Get started on your garden deck today!

We know what you're thinking: surely it can't be summertime already?! Okay, so there are still a couple of weeks to go before June arrives, but if you want to make the most of the next three months, you'll want to start getting ready now. After all, there's no time like the present!

Having a deck in your back garden is the perfect way to enjoy summer to the fullest. Don't worry if you're currently deck-less, though, because there's still time to rectify the situation before summer starts in earnest. There's a reason why we're writing this article in the middle of May! Garden decking gives you a sensational spot to sunbathe, and if you have children, they'll love running around on the deck while you sit with a good book and a cold drink.

Composite decking is especially ideal for the summertime because, unlike some decking materials, it doesn't require any staining or oiling to protect it from the sun. Nobody wants a deck that looks faded and degraded by the end of its first summer; if you've decided to do decking this year, you might as well do it right! Order a sample from TimberTech today and get your dream deck underway.

(We should mention that this blog post was written under the assumption that the country will see at least a little sunshine this summer. We can't control the weather, but we can at least be optimistic!)

Opting to install a deck in your outdoor space is a great decision, but the decking doesn't have to be the only part of your garden that you use. A resplendent garden deck and a verdant green lawn can live side-by-side in harmony - they serve different purposes, and using the two together could easily make for the greatest garden imaginable!

So what's the best way to do it? Many people opt to use their deck as an extension of their home, installing it directly adjacent to their property and perhaps adding some bifolding doors to create a nice transition between the two. A table and a couple of chairs is all it takes to transform the deck into the perfect outdoor seating area; a great place to relax on a sunny, with a book in one hand and a glass of something cold in the other.

The rest of the garden can be used as...well, a garden! You can add plants and flowers around the borders to make it a little more beautiful, while the lawn itself will make a great place for your children to play. And if you don't have any children, you'll find that the world is full of great ways to decorate a bare garden lawn; from statues to water features to garden arches, there are all kinds of options for the budding exterior designer!

So instead of replacing your garden altogether, why not simply use decking to add an attractive extra dimension? Adding a TimberTech deck is a fantastic way to get the most from your outdoor space!

Decking may feel like an extension of your indoor space, but if you’re of a green-fingered nature then you’ll almost certainly want to treat your deck as part of your garden. And that’s great – we do call it garden decking, after all! There are all kinds of great ways to work a bit of greenery into your patio; here are some plants that we feel to be particularly well-suited to a life on deck:

  • Yucca
The proud green leaves of a potted yucca plant complement the woody brown colour of our composite decking rather well. It's a fairly neutral colour scheme, but if you're a big fan of natural beauty then you can't go far wrong by arranging a few gorgeous green plants on your deck.
  • Bougainvillea
If, on the other hand, you like your flowers bright and your colours bold, a bouquet of bedazzling bougainvillea is probably the best way to beautify your back garden. While these flowers are available in a range of different colours, pink and purple tend to be the most common choices, which is great news if your tastes are bright and girly!
  • Lavender
There are a couple of things which make lavender a lovely addition to a garden deck. Those little purple buds look pretty, of course, but the wonderful, soothing scent is just as big a part of their appeal. If you want a fragrant place to relax, a few pots of lavender (and perhaps some rosemary) will turn your deck into a heavenly herb garden.

These are merely suggestions; more or less any plant will make a fine addition to your patio. Whether you prefer shrubs or sunflowers, there's endless scope for a bit of deck decoration - and don't forget that the pots and containers can be just as beautiful as the plants!

Spring is here! Well, okay, it isn't here quite yet, but the evenings are getting noticeably lighter and it's hard not to get just a wee bit excited for the clocks going forward, even if it's not for a few weeks yet.

If you're an outdoorsy sort of person, watching your sparse winter garden blossom into a beautiful spring garden is one of the best parts of the year. Flowers bloom, leaves return to the trees, and everything generally starts to look a little bit lovelier.

Still if you want your spring garden to look even more beautiful, why not add some decking? A deck can completely alter the way a garden looks, creating a multi-level effect and giving your outdoor space a gorgeous centrepiece. A couple of chairs on the deck will give you the perfect place to sit and survey your work after a hard day's gardening, and you can even cover the deck with potted plants to add even more beauty to your outdoor living space!

Whether surrounded by shrubbery or dotted with daffodils, a deck can give you all sorts of new ways to enjoy your spring garden. In short, if you want to get the most out of your garden this spring, TimberTech decking is the perfect way to do it!
