Ideas and updates from the TimberTech blog

2019 has been a year of amazing decks and garden transformations for our clients, and it doesn't look like we'll be slowing down as we head into the new 'deck'ade!

If you're considering a spot of renovation in the new year, or if you're looking for some garden inspiration then look no further. We've scoured the internet and consulted our customer feedback to give you a good idea of the decking trends you can expect to see in 2020. Let's dive right in..

Creative Configurations

Whether you combine different colours, grains or board orientations, something that's not going anywhere in 2020 is creative configurations!

In modern gardens, a simple rectangular deck in a single block of colour is likely to look completely out of place (unless you love the minimalist vibe).

So, if you're someone with a range of eclectic garden furniture, ornaments and beautiful flowerbeds, we expect you'll opt for an interesting deck design.

Here you can see an example of a TimberTech deck that was created using two of our gorgeous brown shades and was strategically laid to create a space with character that leads the eye across the garden space. Want to create something similar in your own garden?

 composite decking cable railing

Cable Railings

We' expect a  rise in the number of garden spaces being given an 'industrial' makeover. Metals, bold lines and shabby-chic furniture will be popping up in gardens up and down the country, and our chunky cable railing will fit right in!

This railing option prevents slips and falls off the edge of your decking without obstructing your view of the garden. Perfect for you sun worshipers who plan to spend plenty of time in the garden in Summer 2020!

Better yet, our cable railings are infinitely easier to upkeep than glass or wood balustrades because they're made from marine grade stainless steel and are resistant to corrosion. They won't show mucky finger marks like glass, and they won't need sanding or sealing like wooden rails.

With 2020 set to be another busy year, low maintenance & high impact garden additions are going to become a household staple. Learn more about our cable railing here...

Rooftop Decks & Balconies

We've had the pleasure of working on a handful of rooftop projects in 2019, and we're really looking forward to taking on a few more projects like this in the new year!

Predictions show that summer 2020 is going to be another scorcher, and in our opinion, there's no better way to spend a hot summers day than sitting on your balcony or rooftop with a cold drink and enjoying the scenery. So, why not make the most of your roof space and convert it into a TimberTech terrace!

We know what you're thinking wouldn't a rooftop deck get really hot in the sunshine? You'll be pleased to learn that TimberTech's composite decking is resistant to heat. You'll be able to lay on a soft towel and worship the sun or wander around barefoot without the risk of sticking or stinging!

Better still, our composite decking is fade resistant so even if it's in direct sunlight it won't lose its rich colour. You'll be able to enjoy your rooftop design year-after-year! Find out more about our rooftop balconies here...

Happy New Year! We’ve just entered 2019 and if it’s your job to redesign the garden this year, it’s our job to get you up to speed on the latest decking trends so that you can create a garden that’s both stylish and contemporary. We’ve scoured the internet to bring you an insight into the most fashionable deck designs and accessories that will gain popularity in 2019.

Picture Framing

Choosing to apply a different coloured trim around the perimeter of your decking, also known as picture framing, is by no means a new practice but it is set to rise in popularity in 2019. Homeowners who want to incorporate a deck into their garden that’s both practical and fashionable will love this trend! Visit one of our TimberTech showrooms if you’d like to have a look at the different coloured deck boards available. Our sales team are sure to offer you advice on which deck boards are most complimentary together if you’d like to achieve this look.

Split Decks

Splitting your deck over multiple levels is sure to be a hit this year. Homeowners want to add decks to their unusually shaped or sloped gardens, and split deck designs, such as the one you see here allow you to do that. You can create a deck that covers multiple levels by incorporating steps and a balustrade or handrail for safety. Why not take a look at our 3D deck designs on Pinterest to see a selection of different split deck designs?

Glass Balustrades

Whether your home overlooks an area of natural beauty or a busy city, if you want to be able to look out from your deck and enjoy the view then glass balustrades are a perfect option. In 2019, we predict that the desire for minimalist, modern and practical garden accessories will be on the rise – meaning glass balustrades will be a popular choice.  At TimberTech we offer glass balustrades with or without handrails and also frameless glass balustrades for creating a truly seamless look. View the entire glass balustrade range here.

We look forward to hearing from you if you plan to give your garden a new lease of life in 2019. If you have any questions about the products or designs you see here, please get in touch with our sales team on 029 2080 3756.
