Chelsea visitors will have first chance to experience a revolutionary new departure in decking, at the Society of Garden Designers stand
A revolutionary new concept in garden decking will be making its debut at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show (22nd – 26th May). Featuring all the natural beauty of wood but with added durability and convenience, patented VertiGrain composite wood decking – from decking specialists TimberTech – is the designer decking solution being sought out by the owners of luxury homes across the UK.
For the first time, TimberTech will be supplying composite wood decking to the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) for use on the Society’s stand at RHS Chelsea’s new ‘Fresh’ category. As the name implies, Fresh is the place for all things refreshing, bright and innovative and the SGD stand will be just that. With bold colour-block planting set among large coloured cubes and an eye-catching wallpaper backdrop, visitors to the stand will also be able to enjoy TimberTech’s premium VertiGrain decking, which will guide visitors in by creating a path between the planted borders.
As in previous years, visitors will be able to receive a free garden design consultation from the SGD stand, meet participating Registered Members (MSGD) and see their work on a series of posters displayed within the stand.
Sian Lewis, marketing manager at TimberTech said: “We’re really pleased that the Society of Garden Designers contacted us to get involved in their stand at Chelsea 2012. Our product really is quite different to anything else on the market, in that it offers a viable, long lasting alternative to traditional timber decking. The benefits of composite decking are endless – from the year round visual appeal, to the flexibility in design and colours, and practicality – so it’ll be great to showcase our VertiGrain range within a garden context, enabling visitors to the stand the opportunity to touch and feel the product. We’re sure it won’t take long before they rediscover decking and realise the benefits of composite decking!”
TimberTech’s VertiGrain range remains the company’s most popular range. With a grained surface that replicates the look and feel of wood, the VertiGrain range is available in four stunning colours – Cedar, Grey, Redwood and Chestnut.
TimberTech staff and products have been much in demand over the past few days at trade show Ecobuild in London. Back at the show after an absence of five years, customers were delighted to be part of our return, and were excited to hear about the new developments in our range of eco-friendly composite decking and accessories.
If you were not able to get along to the show, or alternatively, simply didn’t have time to visit us on our stand, then it’s not too late – complete our FREE Sample request form – and we will pop a copy of our brand new brochure and sample in the post, and call you to discuss your individual project requirements.
TimberTech are back at Ecobuild for the first time since 2007. Last time we visited, customers were excited about our range of eco-friendly composite decking and accessories, which were relatively new to the market at the time.
Fast forward five years and our products have gone from strength to strength, so come along to stand S1954 and see what we have on offer. You can see our best-selling Vertigrain board in our most popular and contemporary shade of grey, or look at our new Earthwood Evolutions decking, on public display for the first time at Ecobuild. These new boards look just like hardwood decking, but with none of the high maintenance or environmental impact – they feature our unique moisture-resistant technology as well as a 25-year warranty with fade and stain cover.
So come to stand S1954 and see our eco-friendly composite decking for yourself.Pick up our brand-new, bigger than ever brochure and have a chat to our sales consultants, who can introduce you to our range. We’ll also have some gorgeous outdoor living products on display.

Since I started TimberTech UK over 6 years ago it has been amazing to watch the evolution of our TimberTech garden decking products. Our garden decking range has developed into a collection of stunning, low maintenance products that truly mimic wood’s beauty. Behind the scenes, another change that has been exciting to contribute to is our sustainability movement.
In addition to using recycled materials in our garden decking and in other products, we have been busy with some incredible environmental initiatives. I would like to share a few interesting examples.
- In the past two years TimberTech has reduced the waste it sends to landfills by over 90% by recycling old material into its garden decking.
- Every day TimberTech reclaims and reuses over half a million litres of water, equivalent to the amount used by 2021 average households.
- Since 2009 TimberTech has reduced electrical consumption by enough to supply power to 164 households annually.
- Last year 332 tons of material was recycled, equivalent to the annual rubbish of 161 average families.
These are a few reasons I am proud to be part of the TimberTech Team, and some extra reasons to select a product that you can feel proud of too.

We’re officially in the midst of winter. The weather is cold and the snowy weather here! I recently came across an article on eHow about deck winterization. You’ll notice when you’re reading through these tips that the winter effects on a TimberTech deck are much less cumbersome than a wood deck. In fact, because TimberTech never needs to be stained or sealed, you can eliminate some of the steps altogether – making TimberTech live up to its brand promise: Less work. More life.
TimberTech does not require any specific winterization tips. However, as mentioned in the article, removing all pots, planters, and debris – such as branches, leaves, dirt or pebbles that have accumulated can also help reduce the risk of moisture buildup and staining on a TimberTech deck. Now that winter has hit and your deck may be buried, you can remove any of the snow and ice by using either rock salt or calcium chloride. These will not damage the surface. These products may, however, leave a white residue, which can be removed by either rinsing with water or using a mild soap/water solution. Also, remember to use care not to damage your deck surface when shovelling off the snow or ice. Plastic shovels work well for this. Avoid shovels that have a metal leading edge.
